The Moon and the Sea

It's a nice evenin'

I love it on a clear night when you can see the face of the man in the moon

I love the way his light touches the sea

Now there's a thought

I wonder

What if the moon were

To sing to the sea

What would his song be?

Perhaps he'd sing:

"Ooh, how you shimmer and shine far below

How rare are your rock pools that glimmer and glow"

Or maybe he'd just stay silent and still

What if the sea were

To sing to the moon too

What would her song say?

Perhaps she'd sing:

"Stop all your glowin', you're shinin' too bright

And the light from your face keeps me up ev'ry night"

Or maybe her teasin' is hidin' her heart

It is a nice evenin'

Shouldn't you be spendin' it with someone your own age?

Have you ever met a man my age?

Men in their twenties are so overconfident

In their thirties they're all knackered from overwork

In their forties they're all worried about turning fifty

In their sixties they're, bleh, they’re pretty much seventy

But men in their fifties...

What if the moon were

To fall for the sea

What could the moon do?

For no matter the hope hidin' inside his heart

The moon and the sea are just too far apart

So he's destined to dream in that sky high above

What if the moon and the sea were in love?

And upon the horizon, those lovers were free

Each evenin' the moon would come down to the sea

Then supposin' the moon saw the opportune tide

But the moment to draw the sea close to his side

Then maybe he'd kiss her under his light
