Was I Right

There he goes out with the army

Will he return, I do not know

Though his body's strong and able

What's the state of his broken soul

Will he return once more a hero?

Will he learn to leave the past behind?

Will he find hope in his Maker?

Or did that fall where Aazreel died?

Was I right

To leave my love to march alone

Let him go to face the fires of the enemy

While his faith is turning cold?

And will he know

That through the pain and in the fight

I will be his lantern guiding down the shadowed path

And help him see the light?

Ever since the day his brother fell

He's been a lone ship sailing far from shore

With sails torn and rudder shattered

Left to drift, with no captain in this storm

I've tried so hard to be his captain

Grip the wheel and mend his splintered beams

But in spite of my direction

He's sinking deeper into the raging sea

To open wide his dreary eyes

Make him look and see the vastness of his Savior

Though his sight was always blind?

And will he know

That though my navigation fails

God will guide that ship to see a new horizon

And mend his broken sail?
