Pretty Great

I remember sittin' shotgun

Of that old chevy truck in the hot sun

CD book up in my lap, I was probly flippin' through

Some of the discs were scratched but I finally found a few

That would work so I popped one in, you know for such a little thing it's got a lot to give

Now I'm just vibing out and ridin' with my pops and shit

And gettin' a couple verses in before he clocks his shift

Fast forward just a couple light beams, someone broke into his car and stole that stereo, sheesh

Got me thinkin' bout the times when he would drive and I'd sing

Use the steering wheel as drums and maybe stop for ice cream

Super pivotal for me and all the future I see

He believed and would encourage me for what I might be

And now the stereo's gone, probably all the CDs

But what matters I remember it nicely

I was king of the world, I was on my way

Without a fear in the world, that was pretty great

I remember how the wind blew

On my face in summer, everything was simple

Rope-swinging off the bluff, hundred feet up in the air

Only thing I didn't have, on this earth was a care

I was feelin' alive I was, I did a three, two, one and every time I jumped

I'd feel the purest form of joy, it was designed as such

I swear there'll never be another swing I like as much

Flash forward maybe 2019

It was one of the coldest winter seasons Renton ever seen

And the snow was piling up so it was heavy on the leaves

But I was away at college so I never got to

Where the swing had once swayed, there was nothing left to see

Because on the ground below, lay the branch of the tree

It was gone in one night at least I got the memories

What's important's I remember 'em nicely
