Vows of a Father

I’m not in it for the glory nor the fame

Being a father, to my children, will always remain

I will be their rock, the steady hand to hold

They have all my love, in a world that’s so cold

I always have a job to do, as my heart remains at home

I will cherish all the little moments til my kids get full grown

Teaching my kids to use their manners, and telling them jokes til they smile

It’s all about spending time together that makes life seem worthwhile

To the world, I may just be a stranger but to my kids I’m their hero

I promise to protect them from evil through today and tomorrow

From morning wake ups to bedtime stories, I will always be there

Teaching my kids how to love, laugh and how to care

When I’m at work, it’s always boots to ground

It’s a cold place, with no love nor care to be found

When it’s time to come home, my kids are my everything

Their names will never be forgotten as long as I am breathing

To the world, I may just be a stranger but to my kids I’m their hero
