My heart got hurt and that’s okay

A couple months, maybe half a year and I’m back to the same old me

The hardest part ain’t moving on

There were other ones before you, there will be more after you’re long gone

But my pride took a hit when you said that you didn’t feel the same

And it’s hard to admit that it took me this long to walk away

Now my ego’s busy building up a guard trying to protect my heart

I’ve been alone and that feels good

Getting too close comes with side effects that I’m not sure I could afford

He tells me things you’d never say

Funny how easy talking gets when it goes more than just one way
