Lyrics

There's a lot not to like in this world
Tyrants and toxins, blood on the street
Drought and diseases, love in retreat
Oh so much not to like in this world
Doubt and deception, hope set aside
God taken hostage, science denied
Yet the nice things are ample
Here's one for example
I like pie
I really, really like pie
I like elderberry, lingonberry
Huckleberry, bumbleberry
Boysenberry, girlsenberry
Boys 'n' girls 'n' ev'ryberry
Sweet and warm and soft and gooey
Dark and meaty, thick and stewy
Full of fruit or salt and suet
If it's cake, then I say, Screw it
There's a lot not to like in this world
Fools in the statehouse, mines in the sand
Dope on the playground, poetry banned
Oh so much not to like in this world
Drips on the icecaps, dust in the field
Crimes undiscovered, truth unrevealed
There are still things to savor
Here's one that I favor
I like pie
I really, really like pie
Like it silky smooth or tart and tangy
Nutty, crunchy or meringue-y
Graham-cracker crust or crumble
I'll eat any pie but humble
Sparsely filled or overloaded
Unadorned or a la moded
Giving in is not defeatist
Life is sweet but pie's the sweetest
