Ixoxo crowned the king of the beasts down in the bushbucks glade
Ixoxo crowned the king of the beasts of sounds he made
Imbabala the bushbuck was coming home on a dark and a windy night
And just before he reached his favourite glade
He got a terrible fright
For the strangest sound was ringing out as ghostly as could be
So he called two of the strongest beasts to see what they could see
Ndlovu the elephant he walked in into that haunted glade
The sound rang out and he turned about and cried oh I am afraid
Inyati the buffalo said that he would go into the dell
He heard the sound and turned around and cried it's under a spell
Oh what a terrible state of affairs for the giants of the wilderness
For the largest and strongest to be afraid indeed is a big disgrace
Imbubesi the lion was walking by he said what goes on pray tell
Imbabala said there is a ghost down in my favourite dell
No such thing said the brave old lion as he peeped into a hollow log
He said have no fear the sound you hear is only Ixoxo the frog
Imbabala ran through the forest next day and told of the redicule
How Ixoxo made the elephant and buffalo look like a pair of fools
So from that day it was they say because of Ixoxo's sound
And because of his fearless bravery the king of the beasts was crowned
