Remembering To Dream

It's a cold December morning With the sky an icy haze And I pause a moment to think about My distant chilhood days That excited rush of morning With a thrill that seemed to say Go ahead, make a wish, dream away Whenever I think of those days long ago When Christmas was a chilhood fantasy I try to remember on this cold December What endless hope and wonderment to me I try to take a moment remembering to dream I don't bother with a tree or lights All my folks are far away As I look out on 9th Avenue All my memories fade to gray That excited rush of morning Hearing mother always say Go ahead make a wish dream away Whenever I think of those days long ago When christmas was a childhood fantasy I try to remember on this cold December What endless hope and wonderment to me I try to take a moment remembering to dream How did I get so far from home So far from that wide-eyed wonder That child is there, lost inside of me When the dream still left to discover I no longer feel the bitter cold Or hear the screaming subway trains I see two lovers hanging lights And the Chrysler through the haze And I feel that rush of morning As the city seems to say No time to wait It's not too late Dream away Whenever I think of those days long ago When Christmas was a childhood fanatasy I've learned to remember on this cold December With endless hope and wonderment make a dream reality You must always take a moment to dream.
