that spotify no longer pays most of the artists on its platform,

and 82% of artists with music on here make less than $300 per year from Spotify,

while the CEO is a billionaire and the company makes tens of millions in yearly profit

i hope that soon

spotify will change their minds and realize that smaller artists deserve to be paid,

and that refusing to do so makes it harder for many to have a livelihood in their art.

in fact it takes millions of streams to earn a living wage at the current rate of .0038 cents per stream

choose a platform that gives artists their fair share,

spotify starts paying artists for streams only after

a song has been streamed over 1000 times in a calendar year,

there are other more user-centric models out there

and even better ones that can be built in the future

by putting pressure on Spotify to make them do the right thing,

know where your subscription dollars are going,

which is most likely only to the top 10% of all streamed songs,

demand spotify remove ai created music that they don't have to pay artists for,

support the whole model of labor that goes into creating music,

go see live shows, buy records and merch from bands,

and help fellow working musicians be able to create the art that you enjoy
