I Hear the Cows

I ran from the train station all the way home

I crossed over rivers and stepped through thorns

I can't wait to see my family again

And I hear the cows once again

I finally got to the house and cried

She looked better than a bride

This is the place where I was raised

My momma's fixing dinner to eat

With those raggedy slippers on her feet

My sister's mending a dress that she ripped

The country is where I belong
