Mirrors

I thought my room could use a mirror

It's filling space on the wall

I'm still a kid but there's a man in the glass

And so now I don't like looking at all

I guess I'm overwhelmed 'cause I see clearly now

So who am I? 'Cause I forgot

Thank God the years have been kind as they passed

But damn, I wish that passing would stop

And so the time goes creeping, and I'm not keeping up

Filling boxes in the attic I'll never open

If the ride of my life is over, I need a moment

I guess I'll say goodbye to the me I used to know

Where time dropped me off, the changes happen overnight

Yesterday was just a taste of where I'm going

I'm glad I stayed so long the months went on

And they closed down the bar

Well, my reflection lets me check if I've been growing right

And someday I'll start believing what it's showing
