Spoken Word: Lessons Learned

Along the winding roads I tread

Voices rose and stories spread

From every soul I chanced to meet

A wisdom whispered, soft and sweet

Eyes that held the dawn and dusk

Hearts that weathered gold and rust

In their tales, I found a key

Unlocking truths inside of me

I learned that silence speaks aloud

That humility can make us proud

By listening close, my world expanded

In every word, a gift was handed

They showed me lands I'd never known

Through scars and smiles, their spirits shown

In shared laughter, in shared tears

They bridged the gap between our fears

I once thought wisdom was mine to claim

A solitary torch, a singular flame

But now I see it's in the exchange

In the give and take, in the rearranged

Lessons lived and lessons learned

Through open hearts and pages turned

The more I listened, the more I found

A common thread in sacred ground

In their struggles, I saw my own

Reflections of seeds I'd sown

Together we wove a tapestry

Threads of hope and empathy
