Final Day

If God reached out from heaven

And said son, this is your last day.

You need to wrap up what you’re doing

Because tomorrow you’ll be with me.

I wouldn’t wish I had more money,

Or think about the things I cannot change.

Or any of these futile things

That I do most days.

If this was my final day,

At first light I’d hit my knees and pray

And I’d thank God for this one last day,

Say I’m sorry for the times I want astray.

I’d spend more time with my family.

Be a better husband and Daddy.

And I’d share my faith with everyone I’d see.

What if everyday was like the final day for me.

Would I define a new paradigm

For the way I spend my days.

I wouldn’t put off until tomorrow

All the things I can do today.

And I would stop to make some calls,

To my family tree.

From San Diego to Alabama,

Near the river of Tennessee.

If this was my final day,
