Mr Slow

I wanna be Mr Slow.

I ain't got nowhere to go, right now

I'mma take the long way home,

I ain't got it figured out, I know

That the world won't wait,

But I won't change my pace,

Coz' nothing goes to waste

When you take the time out

To take it all in

My styles monastic with a touch of the dramatic

 I move between the aratic and the contemplative practice

I chase rats about the attic just to keep me distracted

From the tragedy in the basement coz I’m too afraid to face it

I make mistakes chasing status forgetting all the basics

Like my state is defined by my pace not my payslips

How much time have I wasted trying not to waste it?

You can’t rewrite the pages between your birthday and the grave shift

I hate to sound fatalistic but it sobers me up

Coz I’ve been chasing that rush I like got holes in the cup

Afraid I’m gonna rust so I rush to keep up

I hustle for love when I don’t think I’m enough

When I first I had a kid I met a man standing in line

He was lighting up a spliff we got to speak about life

I asked for some advice and with tears in his eyes

He said don’t forget to live before you die, son.
