Saw a dead squirrel in my garden
Watched my grandpa die this morning
He was 99 and counting
Had his family around him
Something profound hit me
I was ready to die at fifteen
Think my cat really would've missed me
Thought the guy of my dreams would fix me
But some things just take time

Swallowed a fly at the studio
That would've broke me a year ago
Think I'm starting to grow a backbone
Now I'm learning to let things let go
And I was thinking about Hiroshima
And my heart sank a little deeper
There's a darkness inside most people
We're the same but some are more equal

So much more to life
I don't cry on the floor
Of my shower anymore
