It's Better Than (Being Alone)

It's better than being alone, being with someone you hardly know.

I think that's true for the both of us.

Neither one of us wants to hoard the king-sized bed.

So instead, we cast ourselves in an unfinished play and we watch for someone else to write the end.

And if we see another character, that seems to like us too.

There's no commitment, after all, it's just you.

That's the problem, that's the truth, but after all, it's just you.

I couldn't tell you what it is

If it's the heavy breathing or the drops of sweat too.

It might be the person, but I think it's the body,

Right in front of mine.

Somehow,

We still found a spare to fit in the place of each other.

And somehow, I looked around,

I saw every person was a pair.

I just stood there, with an empty stare,

I had never realized this was a nightmare.

It's better than being alone,

Spending the night with someone you really know.

But I always find, at morning's rise,

A question of 'friend or lover'?

I always settle for both. It's the best of two worlds.

And all my friends agree.

Or should I say my romantic monopoly?

The next day I found myself,

Looking through the sheets at a silhouette.

It was so soft, so real, so perfect, but somehow it was mine.

And we looked across one shared thought.

We had found the way back to the love we forgot.

It was then that I knew, nobody could replace you, and I know you felt it too.

Somehow,
