Welcome to this short relaxation exercise Find a comfortable space to sit or lie down Close your eyes and take a deep breath In through your nose and out through your mouth Let go of any tension in your body Feel the rise and fall of your chest and stomach with each breath Let your breath become slower and more relaxed Feel the breath as it enters your body and As it calmly leaves your body Each time sinking just a little bit deeper in to relaxation As you continue breathing, imagine a warm Soft light surrounding you, creating a sense of comfort and peace As you breathe at your own comfortable pace Lets do a simple body scan Go down to your toes and give them a little wiggle Scrunch them up, then let go and relax Now spin your ankles. Relax, let them rest Now lets feel your legs Stretch your calves, and relax Now tighten and relax your thighs. And relax Now go to your hips and wiggle them ever so slightly Letting them sink in to the cushion beneath you Now feel your back. Is there any tension If there is let it melt away Notice your belly. Gently rising and falling Keep your breath slow and deep Allow the breath in to your chest. To expand, contract, and relax Now feel your shoulders. If there is any strain, let them soften Feel your arms. Clench your wrists tight. And then relax Wiggle your fingers Notice any sensations and let them relax in to stillness Bring your awareness to your neck Stretch it slightly, and let it melt into the cushion beneath you Scan your face, soften your mouth Clench your jaw and chin, and your eyes And then let them relax Bring your attention to the top of your head And pause as you focus there for just a second Let your mind be quiet and your body be heavy. Floating effortlessly Breathe deep And feel at peace
