When we lost Howard I, I didn't know what

You've been cat-fished into attending like a therapy session

Uh, when-when, when we lost Howard I didn't know what to do, and

For a few months I couldn't do anything

And I realized that the thing that was missing was music

And I couldn't really put my emotions into words yet, into songs

So my, my therapy became to just learn the songs

That were really important to us

And so I want to start at the start, uh

What Howard first said to me on Scruff

And if you don't know what Scruff is

Ask the nearest gay person, they'll tell you, uh

Ah, he said you sound very soulful

Like the love child of, ah, Leon Russell and Randy Newman

And I was like this is not the ordinary Scruff message

So we trade (I thought it was Tom Waits and Dr. John)

Okay, yeah, that's a good one too

But, ah, he, he'd name-checked two of my favorite artists, and so I

I reached out to him and we traded numbers right away, and

Leon was definitely one of those special artists for us

And I never learned this song

And it, it would of only made sense that, that I did

So part of my therapy was learning this song, and

And playing it for him now
