Lyrics

Today I passed the mirror
Standing tall by my front door
I pass it many times each day
We rarely share a word
Something caught my aging eyes
In a moment it was gone
I carried on with hat and cane
To enjoy the morning sun
Locked into their private world
Each clutched a steering wheel
The system steered them one by one
I wondered what was real
Who controls the things we do
Who decides what's right or wrong
I wandered to a tranquil park
And listened to a song
The children ran around and played
They sang life's simple songs
I wondered what would they become
As I slowly strolled along
I took a seat on a well-carved bench
By the lake stayed not too long
And floating through the morning air
I still could hear their song
I stepped back into my world
The four walls I called home
I looked back at the mirror
Again I stood alone
I parked my hat and cane once more
An old man stood before me
Failing body, tired and worn
His soul fell till at ease
There are so many things I never said
I don't know why
You know I always loved you
And I never liked goodbye
Soon just an empty hallway
Where we once tippy-toed
I'll follow you, I hope and pray
I'll see you down the road
I hope your burden's not too great
Nor heavy is your load
I'll follow you, I hope and pray
I'll see you down the road
