The steady hum of pressure won't stop chasing you

The question hanging overhead

If you can make it through

Until you finally get to do

What you came to do

When your fingers let go of the bar

You soar and you don't have to try

And it brings back the reasons why

You work so hard to get to where you are

For a moment that is all you have to give

And you can breathe

And you can feel

And you can live

There's a certain look

There's a certain tone

You know is reserved for you and you alone

You either get to be the hero

Of the proof that they were right

No matter how you flourish

No matter how you fight

All that matters is

What you can win for them tonight

But once you're in the middle of the moment

Once you put your foot down on the floor

You push yourself into the air

And you forget they're even there

And you remember what you do this for

You trust that this is who you're meant to be

And you are true

And you are safe

And you are free

It doesn't last forever

It could never last forever

That's gravity, I guess

I only need that moment

I only want that moment

Nothing more

But nothing less

When I feel like I fully inhabit my skin

When I'm one with the body I find myself in

When I stop with the game of who's best and who's worst

When I get to forget that I might be the first

When I give up on thinking and lead with my heart

That is the moment the magic can start
