Broken Wide Open

I always kept your silhouette

Tied tightly around my neck

It reminds me to try to forget my head

And everything in it

But some days I start feeling weak

I dig a whole a mile deep

It’s so far down I cannot see a thing

I keep this string around my wrist

For days that haven't happened yet

It reminds me to never forget the world

I’m out of touch and out of place

I’m so far gone I cannot find a way

The weather’s gotten worse, its unraveling the earth

Sweet summer melodies, singing you back to sleep

Cry in the midnight breeze, tears running down your cheek

Give me another world, more than the one I see

Doubt every single word but trust in the poetry

I still can’t explain how it felt

Watching it fall apart

I don’t recognize myself, yearbooks and broken hearts

Life is a great mirage

You’ll never see it right

Keep watching the sky for god, bent, like a ray of light

My thoughts are all poisonous

Mist blowing in the wind

My words are all meaningless

My mouths full of cinnamon
