I was out of my mind when the measure was made

I conjured you in, I willed you to stay a safe distance away

You had a hunch that something was wrong - checking the clock checking your pockets

I was drinking at lunch when somebody said a rumour had spread that I took the punch sent me reeling off my heels and onto the bed

Dancing the line as if it was straight

A callous ballet the border so fine between two awful states

I was all out of time but the measure was made
