That your companions of loneliness terrorised

You stumbled out into the morning

It never gave you any warning

It came upon you without a single sound

Turned your heart inside out

You roamed the alleys like a stranger

Clutching rags in your hands

A shepherd searching for a manger

A child who reads words he cannot understand

The lame made to stand
