I Used to Like to Draw

Scrap paper spread on the floor by my bed

I used to do nothing but draw

This one's a star with flowers on top

And that one, a purple frog

Two astronauts dressed in red polka dots

There's nothing that I couldn't draw

Get me some paper, give me time

Laugh off my mistakes

Let me fumble, let me fly

Pose for me and let me try

Now it's all pens and keyboards and such

A rainbow of black and white

Hard lines and facts and no crayon wax

I think I forgot how to draw

I see a square, a circle and sticks

But where went the house and trees?

Can't recognize what's in front of my eyes

I wish I still knew how to draw

Get me some paper, give me time

Laugh off my mistakes
