One day you’re six years old, then you wake up 22
One day you’ve got a grip on the bottle, next day it’s got one back on you
They don’t tell you when you take that first sip, it’s a road that only goes two ways
It’s your choice to make

You can have a few beers with some buddies through the years around a campfire down a dirt road
Or you can drink all night ‘til the morning light comes up and you’re all alone
One’s a good time but the other is a life I wish I’d never known
The only thing stronger than the whiskey, is its grip on lettin’ you let it go

You tell yourself it ain’t that bad but now the girl you love is just a girl you had
You hit rock bottom and you get there fast, then you go through hell just to get her back
They don’t tell you when you take that first sip, it’s a road that only goes two ways

Gotta find a way to figure out, how to pick myself up off the ground
I could use a drink right about now

Some people can have a few beers with some buddies through the years around a campfire down a dirt road
But I’d drink all night ‘til the morning light came up and I was all alone
One’s a good time but the other is a life I wish I’d never known
The only thing stronger than the whiskey, is its grip on lettin’ you let it go
