Tall tales, swallowed by a whale
 Paper trails connect my memories
 Cut School, acting a fool
Golden Rule, it don’t apply to me
Town Hall, lot of talk but it’s small
 Football and God and Politics
 Big Hair, mama’s always there
Sweet prayers to pray and meals to fix
And the clock ticks whether you laugh or cry
And unlike time I cannot fly
Like a June bug in Late July
 I downplay what it means
Yes sir and thank you ma’am
And God is great and I’ll be damned
All that I have and have not seen...
 I’m alive and in between
 Chores done, unfavorite Son
Sports and guns to kill the time of day
Love hate, hurry up and wait
 Postulate about the getaway
 Blood Lines, kudzu vines
 Warning signs around my sanity
 Shame shame, shifting the blame
 Scattered cases of humanity
And the clock ticks whether you laugh or cry
And unlike time I cannot fly
Like a June bug in Late July
 I downplay what it means
Yes sir and thank you ma’am
And God is great and I’ll be damned
All that I have and have not seen...
 I’m alive and in between
