Lyrics

I find that it can be very hard to maintain momentum through difficult times Or times where creative energy is a scarce resource But I like to think about creativity like the momentum of a vehicle It can be hard to get started But once it is moving, it's far easier to keep that pace So some of my best advice is to just keep moving That doesn't mean you need to be putting out an album Every month or finishing a painting every week But making something Anything, no matter how small. A sketch, or a simple loop Just the act of sitting down and touching your tools Whether anything comes out of that or not, that's not the point The point is that you are maintaining your momentum That little push forward helps you be active and aware When the inspiration does strike Because inspiration often strikes at unplanned times And it's important to be prepared For several years now, I have been writing a song every week At least a song every week, if possible And that doesn't mean that the songs I make are always amazing, but they are something They are a thing where I was able to sit down and say "Yes, I want to do this, it is important to me and it is worth investing my time" That reminder and that investment has allowed me To stay productive as an artist through some very hard times Not everything is going to be perfect, but not everything has to be Sometimes you just need to go put your reps in at the gym to retain that strength Because if you don't use it, your creativity could atrophy and shrink It could become less prevalent in your daily life So, go out and practice Go out and make something Continue to create and move and maintain that momentum Your future self will thank you for it when that golden idea emerges
