Die Band aus Sheffield kreiert einen intensiven Elektro-Pop-Sound, der Millennial-Rock-Angst und pure Disco-Euphorie verbindet.
• Gegründet wurde das Quartett Anfang 2017 während des Musikstudiums von Sophie Scott (Gesang und Gitarre), Chris Hill (Schlagzeug), Toby Holmes (Gitarre) und Bailey Stapledon (Bass). Antonia Pooles ersetzte 2019 Stapledon.
• Der Name Sophie and the Giants ist eine Metapher dafür, wie groß und stark sich die Bandmitglieder zusammen fühlen.
• Die britische Band ließ sich für ihre Musik von Blondie über PJ Harvey bis hin zu Siouxsie und Radiohead inspirieren.
• 2018 erschien die Debüt-EP „Adolescence“. Der 2019 veröffentlichte Song „The Light“ wurde von Vodafone für eine Werbekampagne genutzt.
• Zusammen mit dem deutschen DJ und Produzenten Purple Disco Machine veröffentlichte die Band 2020 „Hypnotized“. Der Disco-Beat-Track brachte den Durchbruch und erzielte in Europa mehrfach Platin und Gold.
• Nach „Golden Nights“ (2021), einer Kollaboration mit den Club-Veteranen Benny Benassi und Dardust arbeiteten Sophie and the Giants 2022 für „In The Dark“ erneut mit Purple Disco Machine zusammen.
