Die Dark-Rock-Band Lord of the Lost wurde 2007 von Sänger und Gitarrist Chris Harms, der zuvor bei der Rockband Philiae spielte, als Soloprojekt gegründet. Bald kamen andere Musiker hinzu – wobei sich die Bandbesetzung über die Jahre immer wieder änderte. Das erste Album Fears erschien 2010, der Nachfolger Antagony kam schon ein Jahr später heraus. Mit dem nächsten Platten Die Tomorrow (2012) und From the Flame Into the Fire (2014) kam die Band schon in die deutschen Charts (#33 bzw. #18). Die nächsten Alben Empyrean (2016), Thornstar (2018) und Judas (2021) schafften es mit ihrer pompösen Goth-Rock/Metal-Mixtur in die Top Ten. Zwischendurch setzte Harms mit der Swan-Songs-Reihe auch immer wieder auf heruntergefahrene Akustik-Arrangements, und mit dem achten Album Blood & Glitter (2023) zeigte sich Harms von New Wave und Glamrock inspiriert.
