Vicente Fernández, "El Idolo de Mexico", ist mehr als nur der unumstrittene König der traditionellen Ranchera-Musik, er ist auch einer der bekanntesten und einflussreichsten Kulturikonen Mexikos. Mit seinen überdimensional großen Sombreros, dem markanten Oberlippenbart und den schreienden Kostümen, sowie einem Orchester, das sehr zahlreich mit Bläsern und Streichern in passenden Mariachi-Outfits bestückt ist, wirkt Fernández auf der Bühne wie eine überlebensgroße Figur. Zu seiner visuellen Präsentation passt sein opernhafter Gesang, der sich auf die bescheidenen Anfänge des Sängers bezieht und Inhalte für den Durchschnittsbürger aufgreift.
