Underworld entwickelte sich in den 90ern zu einer der wichtigsten elektronischen Bands durch ihre berückende Mischung von Altem und Neuem. Die beiden Frontmänner des Trios, der Sänger Karl Hyde und der Gitarrist Rick Smith, spielen seit der New Wave-Explosion Anfang der 80er zusammen; nachdem sie zwei erfolglose Alben als Underworld in den späten 80ern herausgegeben hatten, landete das Duo endlich einen großen Hit, als sie Darren Emerson, einen jungen DJ der ganz versessen auf Techno und den Trance-Sound war, anheuerten. ~ John Bush
