Alle Dramatik der Leinwand ist nichts gegen den mitreißenden Alt-Rock von Thirty Seconds to Mars. Es ist ganz sicher von Vorteil, dass der oscarprämierte Schauspieler und Sänger Jared Leto der unerschrockene Frontmann ist, der die Reise der Band durch Progressive Rock, Metal und elektronisch angehauchte Konzepte zusammen mit seinem älteren Bruder und Schlagzeuger Shannon anführt. 1998 in L.A. gegründet, veröffentlichten Thirty Seconds to Mars 2002 ihr selbstbetiteltes Debüt. Es zeigte mit seinen spacigen Alt-Metal-Attacken die Ambitionen der beiden, aber die Aufnahme von Gitarrist und Keyboarder Tomislav Miličević und Bassist Matthew Wachter unterstützte sie dabei, auf dem Nachfolger „A Beautiful Lie“ aus dem Jahr 2005 ihr Stadionpotenzial auszuschöpfen. Mit dem Synth-Rock-Epos „This Is War“ von 2009 erreichten sie einen Guinness-Weltrekord für die meisten Shows während eines Albumzyklus, und auf ihren nächsten beiden Alben „LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS“ (2013) und „AMERICA“ (2018) schafften sie den Spagat zwischen konzeptionellem Art-Rock und Elektropop-Präzision. 2023 schlugen die Brüder – mittlerweile wieder als Duo unterwegs – schließlich ein neues Kapitel auf: „It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day“, ihr sechstes Studioalbum, balanciert elegant zwischen Stadionhymnen, poppigen Dance-Tracks und EDM-Clubbangern. Die Welt geht für Thirty Seconds to Mars definitiv nicht unter, stattdessen hält sie weitere – musikalische – Abenteuer für die beiden bereit.
