About Raphaela Gromes

Artist Biography

Raphaela Gromes gehört zu den bekanntesten Cellistinnen ihrer Generation. Sie wurde 1991 in München geboren, ihre Eltern traten als Nymphenburger Celloduo auf - und so lernte Raphaela schon mit 4 Jahren selber das Instrument und spielte mit 7 live mit ihren Eltern. Ab 2006 studierte sie an der Musikhochschule Leipzig unter Peter Bruns, ab 2010 an der Musikhochschule München unter Wen-Sinn Yang und dann an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien unter Reinhard Latzko. Neben Cello-Werken z.B. von Dvořák, Haydn oder Boccherini gehören auch zeitgenössische Komponisten wie Dominik Giesriegl oder Mario Bürki zu ihrem Repertoire. Mit Amelie Böckheler trat sie ab 2011 als Duo Servais auf, außerdem nahm sie mehrere Platten mit Pianist Julian Riem auf - darunter Einspielungen von Offenbach und Richard Strauss und das Album Imagination (2021).
