Das norwegische Electronica-Duo Royksopp, das 1998 von Svein Berge und Torbjorn Brundtland gegründet wurde, erhielt für sein Debütalbum „MELODY A.M.“ (2001) großes Lob. Auf dem größtenteils entspannenden Album, das weithin als Chill-Out-Klassiker angesehen wird, sind Sänger Erlend Oye (Kings of Convenience) und Anneli Drecker (Bel Canto) zu hören. Das Album dient als Vorlage für die weiteren Arbeiten der Gruppe mit Sängern wie Karin Dreijer Andersson (The Knife), Lykke Li und Robyn. Wenngleich Royskopp sich auf club-orientiertes House-Terrain begeben haben, sind ihre Arbeiten oftmals dann am Besten, wenn sich die Band einer sanft pessimistischen Stimmung bedient.
