About Nils Landgren

Artist Biography

Der schwedische Funk- und Jazz-Posaunist Nils Landgren verbrachte seine ihn prägenden Jahre an der Musikhochschule in Karlstad sowie an der Universität in Arvika, wo er klassische Posaune studierte. Als er die Jazz-Legenden Bengt-Arne Wallin und Eje Thelin kennenlernte, entdeckte er den Bereich der Improvisation. Er zog nach Stockholm und ging schon bald mit dem schwedischen Pop-Phänomen Björn Skifs auf Tournee. Seitdem spielte Landgren auf ungefähr 500 Alben, wie z.B. Sammlungen so unterschiedlicher Künstler wie Herbie Hancock, ABBA, the Crusaders und Wyclef Jean. 1983 gab er sein Solodebüt heraus. 1992 gründete er die Nils Landgren Funk Unit, die unzählige Aufnahmen veröffentlicht hat. ~ James Christopher Monger
