Der niederländische House- und Electro-DJ Nicky Romero wurde am 6. Januar 1989 unter dem bürgerlichen Namen Nick Rotteveel in Amerongen geboren und ist hauptsächlich für den englischen Nummer-Eins-Hit "I Could Be the One" bekannt, den er zusammen mit dem schwedischen DJ Avicii und der Sängerin Noonie Bao aufnahm. Erste Aufmerksamkeit erlangte Romero 2009 mit einem unautorisierten Remix von David Guettas "When Love Takes Over". Schnell machte er sich einen Namen in der Szene und remixte bald Songs von Musikern wie Kylie Minogue ("All the Lovers"), Madonna ("Give Me All Your Luvin'") und Kelly Clarkson ("What Doesn't Kill You"). Nebenher arbeitete er mit DJs wie David Guetta oder Hardwell. 2012 gründete Romero sein eigenes Plattenlabel Protocol Recordings.
