Popstar Marc Anthony gilt als legitimer Erbe des legendären puerto-ricanischen Sängers Héctor Lavoe - den er 2006 auch im Biopic El Cantante spielte. Geboren wurde er 1968 in New York, 1991 erschien sein Latin-Hip-Hop-Debütalbum When the Night Is Over. Dann konzentrierte er sich auf Salsa und hatte 1999 mit seinem selbstbetitelten Album und der Single "I Need to Know"/"Dimelo" seinen internationalen Durchbruch. Mit Platten wie Mended (2002) und 3.0 (2013) landete er weitere Top-5-Erfolge in Amerika, weltweit erhielt er unzählige Gold- und Platin-Auszeichnungen für seine Platten und unternahm zahlreiche ausverkaufte Tourneen. 2019 erschien mit Opus sein 12. Studioalbum. In seinem Latin-Pop greift Anthony immer wieder auch Elemente aus Hip-Hop, Electro, Soul, Rock oder sogar Trap auf.
