Das britische Trio London Grammar verbindet einen minimalistisch arrangierten Elektro-Pop à la the xx mit der dramatischen Stimme von Leadsängerin Hannah Reid, die an Florence Welch (von Florence + the Machine) oder Natasha Khan (von Bat for Lashes) erinnert. Reid gründete die Formation 2009 zusammen mit Gitarrist Dan Rothman und Multi-Instrumentalist Dot Major. Die Gruppe verfeinerte ihren Sound mit atmosphärischer Elektronik und subtiler Percussion, spielte aber live oft nur vor bis zu zehn Leuten. Das änderte sich mit der Single "Hey Now", die die Band auch international bekannt machte. Im Herbst 2013 erschien das Debütalbum If You Wait (#2 in England), 2017 folgte die zweite Platte Truth Is a Beautiful Thing (#1 England). Auf dem dritten Album Californian Soil (2021, #1 England) rückte Reid stärker in den Vordergrund der Songs.
