Die Donots machten sich mit melodiösen, gutgelaunten Pop-Punk-Songs einen Namen. Gegründet wurde die Band 1993 von den Brüdern Ingo (Gesang) und Guido Knollmann (Gitarre). Ihren Durchbruch hatten die Donots mit dem vierten Album Pocketrock (2001), das u.a. dank der Single "Whatever Happened to the 80's" auf Platz 31 der Charts kam. Es folgten die Top-20-Alben Amplify the Good Times (2002) und Got the Noise (2004). Seit 2008 veröffentlichte die Band ihre Platten auf dem eigenen Label Solitary Man, darunter The Long Way Home (2010) und Wake the Dogs (2012). Mit der zehnten Platte Karacho (2015) präsentierten sie erstmals rein deutschsprachige Lieder und setzten die Linie auch auf den nächsten Alben Lauter als Bomben (2018) und Heut ist ein guter Tag (2023, #1 in Deutschland) fort.
