Chilly Gonzales, der sich teils auch nur "Gonzales" nennt, ist ein vielseitiger Musiker: Er machte sich als Pianist, Produzent, Komponist und MC einen Namen. Der 1972 geborene Kanadier zog nach dem Jazz-Piano-Studium in Montreal nach Berlin, später lebte er auch in Paris und in Köln. 2000 wurde er mit seinen Alben Gonzales Uber Alles und The Entertainist sowie einer Zusammenarbeit mit Peaches bekannt, später arbeitete er als Produzent für Feist und Jane Birkin. 2005 ließ er sich für sein Klavieralbum Solo Piano von der Musik von Erik Satie und Maurice Ravel beeinflussen und veröffentlichte anschließend das Piano-Pop-Album Soft Power. Er stellte einen Weltrekord im Soloklavierspiel auf (27 Stunden!) und arbeitete an dem Film The Ivory Tower. 2017 tat er sich für das Konzeptalbum Room 29 mit Pulp-Frontmann Jarvis Cocker zusammen.
