Der talentierte Boogie-Woogie-Pianist Jools Holland wurde vor allem als TV-Moderator bekannt: Seit 1992 leitet er die Live-Musik-Show Later… With Jools Holland, die in England zur Institution wurde. Der 1958 in London geborene Musiker spielte von 1974 bis 1980 in der Popband Squeeze und war auch bei einer Reunion von 1985 bis 1990 wieder dabei. Dazwischen veröffentlichte er erste Soloprojekte, moderierte aber auch schon die TV-Show The Tube. Die Popularität seiner Sendung Later half ihm ab den Neunzigern auch, regelmäßig weitere Soloplatten zu veröffentlichen und eine eigene Bigband im Stil der Vierziger zu gründen, mit der er tourte und Platten wie Sex & Jazz & Rock & Roll (1996) oder Small World Big Band (2001) aufnahm. Dabei spielte er u.a. mit Musikern wie Sting, George Harrison, Tom Jones, Mark Knopfler oder Brian Eno. Mit Jose Feliciano, Marc Almond und Rod Stewart nahm er auch gemeinsame Platten auf.
