Artist Biography

Als R&B Anfang der 2000er-Jahre in neuem Glanz erstrahlte, stach Alicia Keys als prägende Stimme hervor. Schnell wurde klar, dass hinter der geschmeidigen Stimme, den poetischen Texten und dem lässigen Auftreten ein echter Superstar steckte. Alicia Augello Cook, so ihr bürgerlicher Name, wuchs im rauen New Yorker Stadtteil Hell’s Kitchen auf – doch eine klassische Klavierausbildung holte das Ausnahmetalent schnell von der Straße. Mit einer unvergleichbaren Kombination aus elegantem Songwriting, ungeschliffener Attitüde und großer Authentizität bescherte ihren Fans Welthits wie „Fallin’“ (2001) und „No One“ (2007) und sicherte sich auf JAY-Zs Hymne „Empire State of Mind“ 2009 auch einen Platz im Rap-Kanon. Keys sprengt dabei nicht nur musikalische Grenzen: Nachdem sie sich auf dem Cover des 2016er-Albums „HERE“ ohne aufwendiges Make-up präsentierte, machte Keys diesen Look zu ihrem Markenzeichen bei Auftritten und Events. So moderierte sie in den Jahren 2019 und 2020 die GRAMMY Awards, deren Auszeichnung sie selbst mehrfach gewann, mit lässiger Coolness und spontaner Intimität – eine Kombination, die sich auch durch den Sound ihres Albums „KEYS“ (2021) zieht und die sie zu Amerikas bodenständigster R&B-Queen gemacht hat.
